Shades

He looks like he's about to pull his shades off and say, "Hey Baby..."

You have been on Earth for an ENTIRE YEAR!

The chubster is a year old!  Maybe not size wise but he has been on earth for everyone to see for an entire year.  We did not have a party for the poor, neglected, little guy.

Because, germs.

We are not crazy but the little guy cannot stay well.  He has germs from 3 different schools blasted at him everyday and it is just too much for him.   He is now getting his inhaler every day as a preventative measure and, hopefully, that will give him a little boost as far as respiratory strength if he happens to catch a cold.

I have had mixed feelings about this birthday.  Of course, hooray!  Fun!  Our son is one!  But, at the same time I have approximately zero good memories of the day he was born.  It was a wee bit stressful.  I can remember a lot of details from the day and all day today I kept listing what was happening a year ago at different times throughout the day.  The saddest part was that I did not get to say, "And then I met him!!" until about 2 o'clock (he was born at 7:02am). Sad!  Feeling sorry for me?

Well, you shouldn't because LOOK at this little person!  He is so funny.  He has started communicating a lot more.  For example, he can sign "more" (although, he does it non stop all the time so I do not think he knows what it means).  We are working on "all done" but right now he just scrunches up his face and turns red and pushes forcefully his high chair tray to indicate that he would, please, like to be excused from the table.  We're working on that.  He gives kisses and plays paddy-cake and cries every time he sees an Ugly Doll because he knows it is his nap time.   We love him more than all the weeds in our yard.  And that, my friends, is a whole lot.

Nothing says "happy birthday" like a morning breathing treatment.

Can I just play with the ribbon?

How about eating the paper?  Would that be alright?

Well, Mom and Dad are at least looking at the camera with their eyes mostly open.

 Mmmmmmmm...
I'm really not crazy.  But Calder's digestive system is only 9 months old.  So, he got this lovely no dairy, no egg muffin.  When you hit a year gestational you can have all the cake you want!

On the move...

I don't know why this series of photos cracks me up so much.  Calder was going crazy motoring around the living room.  He is still not "crawling" but he army craws everywhere and nothing gets in his way...mom's legs-I'll just go over, a giant caterpillar toy-I'll just go over, Dad's giant feet-I'll push them down and then go over, you get the idea.  He sometimes will get onto his knees rock back and forth and then drop back to his belly and army crawl off.  I'm afraid this is a sign of times to come.  I'm picturing war games in the backyard with ferns used as swords.  Perhaps a little too much rough housing...a crying friend or two with Calder rolling his eyes behind his friends back as I try to comfort the manhandled play-date.

Girl Scout Spring Camp!

It was a gorgeous weekend for spring camp this year...Hooray!  Usually, it is quite rainy.  Camp this year was on the Hood Canal at Robinswold.  I went down for a few hours on Saturday to hang out with T.  Last year I was supposed to go for the whole weekend but then I decided to have a baby instead.  Tayler decided to opt out last year, as well.  So, this year she was excited to go.  The girls are at an age where they need to decide on activities themselves but it is QUITE THE PROCESS to decide on anything.  So, most of the time I was there the girls were trying to decide what to do.  It was difficult for me to just sit back and listen to the indecision ( I suppose that is the teacher in me).

Fun Run

Tayler set a new P.R. at the Viking Fest Fun Run.  Her time was 9minutes 45seconds.  Almost a minute faster than last year.  Calder enjoyed his ribbon...he wanted to eat it.  I was 25 weeks pregnant last year for the run and I'm pretty sure I was in better shape.  Sad.
