Point Defiance Zoo

Going to the zoo was on our official, "list of things we want to do this summer."  Lucky for us Shane's sister, Kareena, has a pass and got us in for free!  We had a super fun day with the cousins.  I really like Point Defiance and I'm not sure why.  Maybe there are less people than Woodland Park?

Boy cousins...one of them was a bit more interested in chewing his "Baby Animal" book :)  ....Thanks for the book Auntie Kareena it is super handy to attach to the jogger!
 Girl Cousins

All the kids.  And, can I just take another moment to point out that Tayler is awesome.  She is a lot older than all the cousins and she is so patient hanging out!

Camping. Finally.

We went camping!  Calder's first camping trip!  Camping is cheap!  Hooray!

Well, this trip was a success.  Calder slept through the night and only got up a little bit early.  This was the litmus test to see how a longer camping trip would go a bit later on.  The longer trip has happened (we just got back) and let's just say it did not go quite as well as this first camping trip predicted (more on that later).

Strawberry Pickin'

We have gone strawberry pickin' twice now.  Once in Sequim (by our house) and once in spokane!  We were only in Spokane a minute so we really didn't have a chance to visit anyone.  Shane was coaching a basketball tournament Cheney for two days so we were at that.
Hanging out with Nick, Caitlin and Grandma.  Calder developed "Stranger Danger" right before this trip.  So, poor Nick, Calder SCREAMED his head off whenever nick got close at first.  I had nick give Chubs a botttle and then they were the best of friends!  P.S.  They still have matching hair-hooray!

I don't known what this face was all about-but I like it!

I love this view

Getting out of the house

It is finally warm and sunny.  Just in time because Shane is doing a bunch of work on our kitchen (tiling, building a bar, etc.) and sometimes we need to get out of the house so he can get some work done.  It is sad that I don't get to help him much but it is fun to go on adventures with the 13 month old and the almost 13 year old.

Tayler is such a good sport. She enjoyed the Jones Cream Soda we took to the park a lot more than the swinging....ha!

The 4th!

We always have such a good time celebrating the 4th of July with Uncle Gary and Aunt Ludie!  Well, actually it is the 3rd of July because Poulsbo does a big 3rd of July celebration (I do not know why).  But, it works out perfectly for boating to and from Poulsbo.  We are so spoiled when we head out to their boat.  They are the best hosts feeding us and entertaining us.  This year Calder got to come!  (Last year he was still in the hospital but Shane and I still went out on the boat...because it is that fun!  The nurses all said, "You have to get out once in a while and just think of us as really, really expensive babysitters." :)

Calder had the time of his life.  Clearly.  I wish I had a shot of his onesie...it was a little big but totally appropriate.  :)  A Manny's onesie with a "no milk" sign on the back.  Ha!
I think in a few years Uncle Gary might loose a dinghy if this kid tries to drive it...

Crib Shinanigans

Someone learned to pull himself up in his crib...
Way back in June Calder pulled himself up in his crib for the first time.  I had put him down for a nap and he was quiet as usual and then after a few minutes started fussing.  I ignored him (because that's what I do) for a while but then his fussing got a little intense so I went up to check on him...

P.S. I don't know why he is wearing the same pj's in all of his pictures.  He wears a different pair every night but it seems like I only take pictures of these.

Oh, boy summer!

Clearly, I haven't been keeping up.  I would like to blame it on the fast crawling (not so much a) baby.  Or, the kitchen work.  But, really I'm just lazy and am choosing other things over the computer.  We don't do a whole lot around here.  Chase a baby around and try to run the 13 year old to different activities that will keep her from getting bored.  I love BUSY summers.  Camps, running around, tons of activities.  Shane is kind of the opposite camp so our summers end up being a happy blend of the two.  I'm going to try to do a few small posts to catch up with some of what we've done this summer.  To start with...there has been lots and lots of running.
It is depressing that our running pictures involve long pants and sweatshirts!  We have been doing a 1.5 mile loop.  We make Tayler run the first lap (evil cackle) and then she gets on her bike and bikes the remaining lap/laps.  Calder just chills in his stroller.  Usually falling asleep around mile 2.
