The only cute thing about RSV...

We never let Calder in our bed.  I think co-sleeping is great and totally beneficial for families.  But, it does not work for us.   Mainly because I am prone to anxiety and I still have dreams that somehow Calder wandered into our bed and I rolled on top of him and wake up in a cold sweat panic.  BUT, since Calds has been up pretty much all night every night the other morning I asked Shane if Calder just lay with him for a second while I used the bathroom.  When I came out this is what I found...and they stayed this way for 3 HOURS!  So, cute.  Shane does not panic like I do about co-sleeping.  Calder, who is going through a major "I love my Daddy and I do not really care for anyone else" phase was in heaven. 

RSV: We hate you

Hate is a strong word.  If I knew a stronger one I would use it. The only good thing is that he caught it this year and not last.  Last year we were in pretty much isolation during RSV season...sure we had the occasional outing but for the most part Calder and I were cooped up in the house.  We would go for a walk outside but tried to stay out of public places.  And, it was good...because he did not get RSV.  I am sure it was more because of the synagis shots than my isolation efforts.  This year he does not get the synagis shots...if he had been born about a week earlier he would still qualify.  Not that I'm complaining about that.  28 weeks rocks!  But, it sort of sucked to hear he had RSV...even though he is handling it and his lungs are doing amazing considering. Last year this would have been at the very least a hospital stay including intubation.  This year?  Just a little extra inhaler.  Can't complain about that!  Thank God for Shane's parents who have come up a few day to watch Calder because I have zero sick leave left and Shane has missed a lot of school this year.  A lot!  Like, more than a years worth of sick leave.  Oh, well.  We are just so happy he is handling it so well!

36 Weeks! 36 Weeks!

Basically, full term.
So cool.  So weird.
Getting ready to meet the little man.
On, one hand, HOORAY!
On the other hand, this has been the longest pregnancy in the history of mankind. :)
But, of course, we are so thankful.
This week we start trying home remedies for inducing labor...trying to avoid that pitocin iv...my doctor may let me go up to 39 weeks.  But, most Type 1 Diabetics deliver at 37.  I am doing really great at blood sugar control so we'll see what she decides and what the 2x week stress tests and battery of blood work indicate.

St. Paddy's Day

Do leprechauns pee in your toilet?  The do in ours.  

SO RUDE!

 While the leprechauns look for the toilet they leave a trail of coins around the house!  Gold chocolate coins (Tayler got those suckers) and real coins too! 

 Seriously funny....green water, Mom!

Tayler, being the extremely loving big sister that she is, held a bag for Calder to collect the leprechauns coins.  Calder kept says, "OH NO" every time he saw a coin on the floor.  It was pretty cute.  The coins went all the way up the stairs and led into each of the kids' rooms....."OH NO"

 And for breakfast?  Green smoothies!  You may think we are gross but everyone in the family loves them.  Spinach, Banana, Flax, Ice, Almond Milk (or regular if you are out of almond).  I call them "Green Power Smoothies-BAM" and Tayler rolls her eyes.

I have made the executive decision that we are going to celebrate the crap out of every holiday around here.  Because it is fun.  It is fun for me, it makes me excited to think of little things to do and if Mom's happy...everyone is happy. 

First Real Tub

Calder took his first bath in the real bathtub!  We have just been using the infant-toddler tub because our bathtub is super deep and there is no way to hold on to him once he is in there.  It is basically a small swimming pool in our ridiculously large apartment sized bathroom.  Shane has been working on Tayler's bathroom a lot.  He put new tile down a new counter top, framed in the mirror and now we can give Calder a bath in there because it is not super disgusting.  Hooray!  

Oh, and he LOVES it.  He gets super excited now when you tell him it's time for a "tub"! 

I'm not sure if T likes sharing her bathroom...

Dates with Friends

 

Over break Calder and I got to go out to breakfast with our friends Kara and Sienna.

He had goldfish breath at the time but Sienna didn't seem to mind....

27, 28, 29, 30!

When your mom and sister live out of town...this is what you do:

Also, 31 WEEKS!  the 31 week picture is not uploaded yet.  

31 weeks is so much further than 26 or 28.  

We have had goals along the way.  24 weeks, 26 weeks 28 weeks. 

Shane's next goal is 32 weeks.  32 weekers are pretty big and awesome compared to 28 weekers.  My next goal is 34 weeks.  At 34 weeks most neonatologists no longer consider a baby premature but rather "pre-term" this is mostly due to the state of lung development at 34 weeks.  Good lung development would be pretty great. Really, we both want a good 37 weeker but we like to set small goals along the way.
